Every Persist team member has had family who suffered from chronic conditions and had to undergo treatment (sometimes really painful and cumbersome). About 15 years ago, Karthik's mom was diagnosed with brain cancer and given a 6-month prognosis. Initial treatments were effective only for 3 months before they started failing. Luckily, doctors found that Avastin (Bevacizumab), a newly released drug, was effective and changed her disease trajectory. She lived for 15 more years and celebrated many personal milestones before losing her battle. Due to stories like this, we're passionate about our work. We aim to accelerate the development of life-saving drugs and improve delivery so that more patients can celebrate personal milestones like Karthik's mom.
