Job Overview

 

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Technical Writer with laboratory work experience. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating and maintaining technical documentation for laboratory procedures, protocols, and equipment. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be able to work independently and have a strong understanding of laboratory safety protocols. 

 

This is an onsite position, in the Lab in Woodland, CA.

Job title:  Research Assistant and Technical Writer

 

Department: Research and Development

 

Responsibilities

• Draft technical documentation for laboratory standard operating procedures, work instructions, and protocols.

• Work with Quality Assurance staff to prepare documentation for entry into the quality management system.

• Support the laboratory team to execute internal and customer projects as needed.

• Actively manage priorities and seek input from management as necessary 

• Learn and improve lab processes as it relates to written procedures.

• Work with laboratory staff to ensure the accuracy and completeness of technical documentation.

• Edit and proofread technical documentation for accuracy and clarity.

• Improve existing written technical documentation.

• Ensure that all technical documentation adheres to laboratory safety protocols.

• Collaborate with laboratory staff to identify areas for improvement in laboratory procedures and protocols.

• Be familiar with the operation of laboratory equipment and maintenance processes.

 

Requirements

 

• 2+ years of experience in a technical writing role

• Strong understanding of laboratory safety protocols

• Comfort working onsite in a laboratory environment

• Excellent communication and teamwork skills

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

• 2+ years of biology or chemistry laboratory experience

• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously

• Experience creating cGMP technical documentation 

• Experience working closely with Quality Assurance and third-party auditors

• Experience with grant writing and submission processes

Salary Range
